Moving is exciting, but the thought of packing fragile items can be nerve-wracking. One wrong move, and a cherished vase or an expensive piece of tech could be damaged. At ShiftMax Logistics, we've handled thousands of moves and know exactly how to protect your most delicate belongings.
Sturdy Boxes: Use small to medium-sized, double-walled corrugated boxes. A smaller box prevents you from making it too heavy and reduces the risk of items shifting. Packing Paper & Bubble Wrap: Use plenty of packing paper to fill empty spaces and bubble wrap for an essential layer of cushioning. Packing Tape: Use high-quality packing tape to securely seal the top and bottom of every box.
Create a Padded Base: Before placing anything inside, create a soft, 2-3 inch base of crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap at the bottom of the box. Wrap Individually: Wrap each item separately in several sheets of packing paper. For extremely delicate items like wine glasses or figurines, add a layer of bubble wrap after the paper and secure it with tape. Fill All Gaps: Once your items are in the box, fill every empty space with more crumpled paper, packing peanuts, or old towels. The goal is to prevent any movement inside the box. When you shake it gently, nothing should shift.
Wrap each plate individually in packing paper. Stack them on their sides (vertically) inside the box, like records in a crate. Place cushioning between each plate to prevent them from clanking together.
Use a thick marker to write "FRAGILE" and "THIS SIDE UP" in large letters on all sides of the box. Add a brief description of the contents (e.g., "Kitchen - Glassware") so you know what's inside without having to open it. This also helps your movers know which boxes require extra care.
